Costa Blanca looks to Moscow for tourism

COSTA BLANCA is stepping up moves to woo Russian tourists. From Monday, a new permanent local representative will be based in Moscow to promote the area. This follows concrete steps taken by the Business Association of Hotels Benidorm and the Costa Blanca (Hosbec).

The representative will be working in the Russian capital from the offices of Turespaña, one of the nation’s largest tour company operators. Hosbec sees the investment of about €40,000 good value for money given the ever-increasing importance of the Russian market.

Thus, Alicante joins a similar initiative launched 13 years ago by communities including Catalonia, which reaped great rewards. Catalonia now boasts a stable base of Russian visitors and home-owners thanks to the initiative taken by the autonomous government. Statistics indicate that Russian visitors spend more than their UK counterparts, making their presence more beneficial to the Costa Blanca coffers.
